Cambridge Who's Who Member, Victorine Ngangu Donates Proceeds from Eyes of Africa to Help the Children of Africa

Cambridge Who’s Who member Victorine Ngangu, author of Eyes of Africa: In the Eyes of Africans, is selling her book to raise money for Help the Children of Africa, a non-profit organization where Ngangu serves as founder and chief executive officer. Help the Children of Africa provides aid to African children who cannot afford to go to school. Eyes of Africa, published by Outskirts Press, is priced at $12.99 (plus shipping and handling) and is available at Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble. For every book sold, 10% will be donated to help aid Help the Children of Africa in providing food and clothing for and paying the tuition of orphans and street children who attend several small schools in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Africa.

The book, Eyes of Africa, is based on true stories and details the mismanagement of Africa’s wealth of raw materials by companies and governments. It also addresses several of Africa’s most pressing economic, social and cultural issues as well as sanitation issues, the lack of medical care and other means of corruption.

According to Jeanne Daigle, African culture editor for BellaOnline, “If you want to know why Africa isn’t flourishing as a continent, read ‘Eyes of Africa’ by Victorine Ngangu.” Daigle says the most shocking part of Ngangu’s book was in regards to the corruption in the education system. It outlines how students could “buy” their grades with money or, if you were a female student, offer to sleep with your professor in order to get top grades and graduate.

NewsBlaze.com writes, “In Eyes of Africa, author Victorine Ngangu paints a realistic picture in the minds of readers regarding the present day political, cultural and social conditions in Africa.” The book elaborates on Africa’s state of corruption and how it affects all the countries in Africa.

Victorine Ngangu founded Help Children of Africa because of her caring nature and desire to help children. She was born in the town of Kimpese in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and has been living in Los Angeles, California since 1987. She earned her bachelor's degree in graphic design from Loyola Marymount University in 2002.

Author House Publisher Unveils Book 3 In 20th Century Trilogy By Eyewitness Author Thomas Becker

“The Race For Technology: Conquering The High Frontier”, the third and final book in an eyewitness Technology Trilogy about major emerging technologies in the 20th century, was released for sale in bookstores and for direct purchase from the publisher, it was announced by author Thomas W. Becker of Pottstown, Pennsylvania. The first two books in the trilogy, “Eight Against the World: Warriors of the Scientific Revolution” and “A Season Of Madness: Life and Death in the 1960s,” went on sale in the last half of 2007.

The Trilogy is a focus on emerging technologies discovered in the 16th and 17th centuries. These technologies later are set against the backdrop of the global Cold War as well as other major cultural events in America and around the globe. Becker was an eyewitness to many of these events in one way or another; as a photojournalist or a space technology educator in the United States and in Europe. As an on-site witness, he captured the essence of events whenever possible in pictures, published for the first time in all three books.

Book 1 “Eight Against the World: Warriors of the Scientific Revolution” introduces the geniuses of the Renaissance, whose difficult work in astronomy and physics led civilization to the technologies of the 21st century and the cultures we enjoy today. This book describes the everyday lives of hardship and heartbreak suffered by men like Copernicus, Galileo, Kepler and Newton as they labored to redefine the universe and humankind’s place in it. Becker sets the stage for the Industrial Revolution and the 19th and 20th centuries’ ages of invention and technology. (Available both in hardbound and paperback editions)

Book 2 “A Season Of Madness: Life and Death in the 1960s” is a look back at that chaotic decade of the Cold War turned hot. Included are descriptions of the fight for Berlin, the knife edge of nuclear war in the Cuban Missile Crisis, the multiple assassinations of our political leadership, the rioting and burning of whole cities, the killing of college students in the Kent State Massacre, the international race for the moon, and the assault on Mars. Intertwined with new technologies is a review of the sudden collapse of America’s treasured value system and a new design of cultural morality that still plagues us today. (Available both in hardbound and paperback editions)

Book 3 “The Race For Technology: Conquering The High Frontier” highlights some of the new technologies discovered during the 1970s through the 1990s including the Soviet-American “handshake in space”, the continued assault on Mars, encounters with Halley’s Comet, the Chernobyl nuclear incident and more. Also included are descriptions of numerous international civilian technologies. (Available in paperback edition only)

Becker is a seasoned writer with 12 published books and more than 300 published journal articles. He recently accepted an invitation to membership in the prestigious Cambridge Who’s Who among Executives and Professionals.
